The African Union is accepting applications for the 2026 Chairperson’s Youth Envoy (AUCYE), a continental leadership post based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The deadline to apply is 9 July 2026, and the position carries an annual salary of up to 96,921 US dollars.

The Youth Envoy serves as the institutional voice of African youth within AU policy processes, ensuring that the priorities of the continent’s largest demographic are represented where continental decisions are made. The role’s core responsibilities include championing the AU’s youth policies, amplifying young people’s voices, and mobilising partnerships for youth development.

The timing is significant. The AU is preparing to host the second AU Humanitarian Youth Forum, and is convening reflection forums aimed at promoting youth contributions to inclusive, democratic governance. The Youth Envoy sits at the junction of those efforts, carrying young Africans’ concerns into rooms where they have historically been under-represented.

For prospective applicants, the post offers a rare combination: a senior continental platform, a competitive salary, and a mandate to shape policy rather than simply advise on it. Detailed criteria and the application portal are available through the AU’s official recruitment channel.

Interested candidates can apply via the AU careers portal at jobs.au.int before the 9 July 2026 deadline.
